100 Books, 365 Days

A lot of people take the new year as an opportunity to make changes, new plans, and new goals. I, along with a group of people over at the Young Writers Society, am going to attempt to read one hundred books this year. Am I crazy? Probably.

In 2010, I found that I didn't read as much as I usually had. I've always loved reading, and it's one of the things that really got me into writing stories myself. So when I read the blog of a YWSer that talked about the 100 books in a year challenge, I was immediately interested. So, here I am.

I doubt that I'll make it through 100 books this year (that's a book every three-ish days!), but I'm going to see how far I can get. If anything, it's a good motivation to get back to reading more and I have a pile of books sitting around that I have yet to read.

My first book is American Gods by Neil Gaiman (and I'm already a tad behind schedule, oops) and I'm enjoying it. It's something I've heard people around YWS talk about reading and something I've wanted to read myself for a while now.

Next I have a whole slew of books I want to read, including Pride and Prejudice, Catch 22, Breakfast of Champions, The Inferno (which I started but never finished, I'm still going to count it though), and the LOTR trilogy.

Needless to say, I'm pretty excited.
